The Peninsula
Made Us
French fishermen called this stretch of coast le Petit Nord. The little north.
They'd cross the Atlantic in spring, fish the season, and sail home in the fall. That went on for the better part of five hundred years, and the name outlasted them.
We're at the far end of Route 410, in Baie Verte, the doorway to the French Shore.
Everything we make is named for something that actually happened on this peninsula. A wreck off Gull Island, a boil-up on Good Friday, the boats that kept the outports supplied, the loggers trekking the hills by the light of their lanterns.
We didn't make any of this up, because we didn't have to.
